Good afternoon friends of our Jazz in the Meadow. As Count Basie repeated in his classic opus, “April in Paris” – ‘one more time’ – we are again going to have Jazz in the Meadow ‘one more time’.
Please save the date for this classic tribute to friends and jazz. Make plans now to attend the gala.
Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 1:00pm
at our Meadow in Somerset County
Mike Tomaro‘s octet will lead off at 1:00 pm with their versions of authentic jazz favorites. Making up this ensemble will be the greatest jazz artists ever gathered in our meadow. Following, we’ll bring back a local favorite, now performing in Cleveland, Ohio and New England. Dane Vannatter and his trio will celebrate with prominent fongs from the ‘great American songbook’ – songs to soothe the musical palate of young and folks my age.
More information will follow – we just wanted you to “Save the Date”!
Happy Spring!
Looking forward to seeing you there, Brooks and Helen Bartlett
** NOTE: THIS IS AN INVITE/RSVP ONLY EVENT ** Please CONTACT US if you are interested in attending.
We want to thank all of you who were able to attend our 2022 Jazz in the Meadow. We are so blessed to be able to count you as dear friends – fellow jazz aficionados, jazz lovers, jazz likers, jazz tolerants, alike.
Your being there, and those that were unable to attend, supporting our passion for Jazz, are our reason to want to celebrate together! You all made this a day to remember and cherish!
Saturday, July 16th we will swing into our Jazz in the Meadow. We have a great lineup of musicians – and in attendance some of the nicest people. Bring a chair and any dish and any exotic drink you may favor. We have beer, wine, soft drinks aplenty. The event starts promptly at 1:00 PM and we’ll entertain till around 6:30 PM. We hope you can join us to be with the greatest musicians and attendees ever!! PS. Set your GPS for McGill Lane, Champion, PA 15622
Good afternoon friends of our Jazz in the Meadow. It is finally once again time to celebrate two great loves in our lives… wonderful friends like you and the hot/cool sounds of Jazz!
After checking with Dr. Fauci, the CDC and WHO we have decided it is safe to have Jazz in the Meadow.
We are happy to announce the time of our next Jazz in the Meadow so please put it on your calendar!

We want to thank you for joining us to celebrate jazz and friendship in our meadow. You came from near and far and we feel so blessed!! Many thanks to you all for your treats and contributions. We also want to thank our family – Sandy and Sean and Nancy and Gabe – for all their hard work and contributions.
It was so rewarding to have you all present providing a spirit of conviviality that made for a joyous afternoon and early evening!!
“God willing and the Creeks don’t rise”, we will do it again in 2021. Please don’t wait that long to be in touch.
We don’t want to jinx anything but the weather is looking jazzalicious for Saturday. Despite this, we recommend chairs and wet weather shoes due to a damp meadow.
This year we will be selling CDs from some of Saturday’s musicians so that you can take the amazing music home with you! Get them in the meadow by the bar and we can almost guarantee an autograph!!!
Reminder: This is a friends and family affair so please feel free to bring a favorite dish, hors d’oeuvres and/or dessert to share! We will have wine, beer, soda, etc. but if you have a favorite beverage, you are certainly welcome to bring that.
Any questions, pleaseContact Us: Brooks and Helen Bartlett: 412-366-1035
The Bartletts are rushing to Jazz in the Meadow on July 13th with one eye on the sky. We are planning a “dry” day in terms of weather – then, we will let the “good times” flow with great food, liquid libation and a gathering of some of the nicest people on earth!
Starting at 1pm, we have three outstanding groups providing jazz – The legendary Frank Cunimondo Trio, Dr. James Moore and his West Virginia Wesleyan collegian all stars and then wrapping things up with the music of Mike Tomaro and his stellar musicians who will accompany Dane Vannatter on vocals. I have it on good authority that a lovely chanteuse will also perform. Other musicians may appear and “sit in” for a song or two.
Paul (Benny) Benedum has joined the Bartlett Family to help support the festivities. Always glad to have Benny with us – maybe he will even play for us.
After this soggy Spring, we recommend chairs rather than blankets for your seating comfort. This is a friends and family affair so please feel free to bring a favorite dish, hors d’oeuvres and/or dessert to share! We will have wine, beer, soda, etc. but if you have a favorite beverage, you are certainly welcome to bring that.
For those staying in the Laurel Highlands, we suggest reservations be made post haste. The Trenthouse Inn only a mile from the meadow. Seven Springs Mountain Resort is 10 minutes away. Early reservations are recommended as mid summer is a busy time in the mountains. Click here for additional lodging.
We hope you can all attend as it is a day of outstanding music and attendees who are even more outstanding.
Any questions, pleaseContact Us: Brooks and Helen Bartlett – 412-366-1035
Looking forward to seeing you all –
Fondly, The Bartletts

We have a musical line-up for you that is nonpareil –
We lead off with the Frank Cunimundo Trio (who has a fantastic new CD out).
They will be followed by Dr. James Moore and his West Virginia Wesleyan College group (all of whom are destined for jazz stardom).
The grand finale is just that – a vocalist and musicians who have already attained the heights of musical fame – Dane Vanatter on vocals and Mike Tomaro and his all-star group accompanying him.
There will be food and drinks (wine, beer, soda, and water) for all. However, you are welcome to bring your favorite food/beverage.
For those traveling a distance, we suggest spending a night or two in the Laurel Highlands. The Trenthouse Inn/Bed and Breakfast and Seven Springs are close by. Early reservations are recommended as mid summer is a busy time in the mountains. Click HERE for additional lodging.

As Irving Berlin wrote “the song is ended, but the melody lingers on”. We feel the same after Jazz in the Meadow 2017. In spite of the afternoon being “a bit damp”, we had a grand time and hope you all did too. We thank so many of you for making the trip to our Meadow to enjoy what may have been the greatest aggregation of jazz musicians we have ever had. We also thank the many friends and neighbors who provided food, drink, and efforts – (before, during, and after) that made the day a success!!!!
(Photos coming soon!)
We continue to pursue our efforts to promote jazz with our Jazz Cabaret at St. Barnabas. We have an outstanding theatre production featuring Pittsburgh icon, Joe Negri, scheduled for Friday, August 11, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Tributes and proclamations will precede an evening of great music by Joe and his trio. Guest vocalists may also appear.
For tickets, please contact the ticket agency: https://www.tututix.com/client/bartlett/ or call 435-222-2849. All ticket proceeds benefit the Free Care Fund at St. Barnabas.
Thanks again for making Jazz in the Meadow 2017 so special!!!
Brooks, Helen and family, and Benny
